New board members are proven business leaders with backgrounds in major sporting events, media, technology, FMCG and entertainment.
3 April 2018, London – SRi is proud to have worked with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to assemble a board of digital entrepreneurs, entertainment leaders and social engagement experts to advise on the future of the game.
The New T20 Board is the next stage in the development of the ECB’s new eight-team T20 competition, set to start in 2020.
The eleven-strong body draws on independent expertise from the business and entertainment sectors alongside representatives from the First-Class county game and the ECB’s senior management team.
Acting in an advisory role to the ECB’s main Board of Directors, the new T20 Board will have sub-committee status and oversee the design, implementation and all operational aspects of the new competition.

The six independent members of the new board bring a diverse set of skills from the entertainment, consumer goods, music, technology and major sporting events industries:
Sanjeev Gandhi has held strategic leadership roles in the media and technology, investment management and charity sectors and was previously one of the first employees of Yahoo! Europe where he led strategy and distribution. Sanjeev is also founder and board member at Reach to Teach, as well as a trustee of vInspired, the UK’s leading youth volunteering charity.
Sahar Hashemi founded Coffee Republic before becoming a best-selling author on entrepreneurship. Later, she founded sugar free sweets brand Skinny Candy and was awarded an OBE for services to the UK economy and to charity. An ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, Shahar is an advocate of social enterprises and lecturer on innovation.
Ron Kalifa is an executive director and former CEO of WorldPay, having previously held executive roles with RBS and NatWest. Awarded an OBE in 2018 for services to financial services and technology, Ron is one the world’s leading Fintech experts and is regularly cited the as one of the top BAME business leaders in Britain.
Mike McCormack is currently UK Managing Director of Universal Music Publishing Group. Previously, Mike was at Simon Fuller’s 19 Music Publishing after holding A&R roles at RCA Records and Virgin Music Publishing. Mike sits on the board of Teenage Cancer Trust, and works closely with numerous music related charities including Comic and Sport Relief.
Caroline Rowland was credit by The Observer as being one of the most influential people in bringing the 2012 Olympic Games to London. Twice nominated as Entrepreneur of the Year in Britain, Caroline is also an Emmy nominated documentary film maker. A senior level strategist who is advising Street League Skateboarding ahead of the sports debut in Tokyo 2020, Caroline has helped 10 cities and countries win hosting rights to major international sports events.
Suzi Williams is a senior leader with a twenty-year track record of delivering profitable growth and transformation, commercial innovation and creativity inside major consumer, media & communications businesses including BT, Proctor & Gamble, the BBC, Orange, KPMG & Global Radio. Voted one of the 100 most innovative CMOs in the world, Suzi is a member of the The British American Project and Advisor to The Women in Marketing Awards.
The search for the six independents of the new ECB T20 board was led by SRi’s Jim Chaplin, Ashling O’Connor and Alistair Milner.
